Gilbert L. Kaat Jr., 53, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born April 26, 1972, in Sheboygan, Gilbert was a son of Gilbert Kaat and the late Patricia Olson Kaat. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1990. He continued his education at Michigan State University earning a bachelor's degree in engineering. On December 18, 1993, he was united in marriage to Tamarah McLeod in East Lansing Michigan. Tamarah preceded him in death on February 27, 2004.
Gilbert worked for Federal Express for many years. He enjoyed spending time at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH, going to the movies, traveling and camping. He was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Gilbert, Sr. and Michelle Kaat; his siblings, Stacy Kaat, Bruce Olson, Kari (Steven) Roethel, Melissa (Jeremy) Tock, Roberta (Josh) Stahl, Patricia (Jim) Tarnowski, Kathryn (Steven) Popovich, and Charles (Deanna) Kee; his aunts, Bernie Olson, Eva Petoskey, Beverly Teetzen, Janice Kaat, Jean Kaat, Kelly Kaat, Colleen Kaat and Nelly Kaat; and his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends from Cedar Point.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Edward and Marion Olson, his mother, Patricia, his former wife Tamarah, his son, Elijah Kaat, his uncles and aunts, Lloyd Kaat, Richard Kaat, Gerald (Kathy) Kaat, Roger Kaat, Leroy (Cookie) Kaat, Kenneth Kaat, Bruce Teetzen and Beatrice (Roger) Bourrett.
A private family service was held on November 10, 2025.
Memorial donations may be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
The family would like to thank his aunts Bernie and Eva, his sister, Kari, and the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
