Gertrude E ."Gertie" Kussart, 90, a resident of Pine Haven Assisted Living, died there on Thursday, October 17, 2013. Born February 19, 1923, in Sheboygan, Gertrude was a daughter of the late Alfred and Elsie Steffen Voechting. On June 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Walter Kussart at St. Mark Church, Sheboygan. Gertie and Walter were married for almost 30 years before Walter preceded her in death on June 3, 1979. Gertie was employed as a housekeeper for several years by Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, until her retirement. She was previously employed by Paper Box Company. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, was a member of the outreach committee and a former Choir member. Gertie enjoyed reading, playing cards, crossword puzzles and was a member of the Homemakers Club She is survived by her four children, Darlene Younger, Madison, WI, David (Laura) Kussart, New London, WI, Daniel (Bonnie) Kussart, Sheboygan, Dawn Kussart, DeForest, WI; five grandchildren, Paul Kussart, Philip (Carrie) Kussart, Brendan (Rachel) Younger, Lisa Younger, Emelia Kreblin; three great-grandchildren, Evan Kussart, Jenna Kussart and Brody Kreblin; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter and her brother Fred Voechting. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th St., with the Rev. Brett Matz, pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for the St. Mark's Food Pantry. The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Haven Christian Home for the loving care they gave Gertie. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family.
