Gertrude H. Kellner of Sheboygan, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, May 12, 2014 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The former Gertrude Franz was born April 2, 1929 in Sheboygan to the late Oscar and Edna Wickesberg Franz. She attended Sheboygan area schools, graduating in 1947. On July 3, 1948, Gert married LeRoy Kellner at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan. They celebrated their 65th anniversary last July. They are members of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Previous employment includes brokerage firms Shearson Lehman and Dean Witter Reynolds, both in Milwaukee. Gertie's greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends, traveling and singing. She was a charter member of the Sweet Adeline's. Gertie is survived by her husband, LeRoy; sons, Kevin (Betty), Mark (Ann), Kurt (Ruby) and Craig (Mary Jo); nine grandchildren, Jamie (friend Sean), Justin, Jesse (Tera), Kristina (Jason), Amanda (Ben), Jennifer (Tyler), Angela (Doug), Tracy (Tom), and Alan (Kate); 10 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Bob (Maxine) Franz, sisters-in-law, Clara Franz and Barbara Franz; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Gale, and her brothers Harold and LeRoy Franz. A Memorial Service for Gertrude will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Fr. Matthew Widder, pastor of Holy Name will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gertie's name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or the Sheboygan County Humane Society. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
