Gerraine Faye "Geri" Wiltgen, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday morning, December 1, 2019 at the Sheboygan Senior Community with her husband holding her hand.
Born September 5, 1929 in Irene, SD, Gerraine was the daughter of the late Melvin J. "Cootie" and Ella Fredericksen Petersen. As a young girl, she and her parents moved to Sheboygan Falls, WI. She attended Sheboygan Falls schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1947. On February 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Leroy F. "Fritz" Wiltgen at her family home in Sheboygan Falls.
Geri worked at Northgate Park & Shop for 18 years before working at Pick N Save for an additional 2 years, retiring on July 12, 1991. She previously worked at B&B War Surplus on the 800 block of Michigan Avenue. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls. She served as a den mother for many years in the Kohler area meeting in the former Kohler Recreation Center, which is now the Appley Theatre. She enjoyed playing cards with her "club girls." She also enjoyed gardening, her flowers, crocheting, needle work and embroidery. She took great pride in her appearance having her hair done every Thursday. Saturday was always "race night" at the Plymouth Fair Grounds and other race tracks. This often involved quick hamburger grill outs in order to get to the track on time.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years (together for 74), Leroy, Sheboygan; her son, Terry (Kathy) Wiltgen, Denmark, WI; her step grandson, Christopher (Nicole) Pasternak, Hobart, WI; step great grandchildren, Alexander and Charlotte Pasternak, Hobart, WI; her foster sister, Janice (Dennis) Manthei, Kansas City, MO; foster nieces and nephew, Debbie (Steve) Knoener, Scott (Mary) Bannier, Rene (Marc) Apps, and Cheryl (Steve "Bing") Holzwart; other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jon "Jack" Wiltgen in 1980 at the age of 22 years.
Private family services were held. Interment took place in Greenlawn Memorial Park next to her son Jack.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank all of her angelic caregiving neighbors, the St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice and the Sheboygan Senior Community for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Geri's arrangements.
