George Otto Schneekloth, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019 at Harvest Home in Howards Grove where he had been residing.
Born August 31, 1928 in Marinette, WI, George was a son of the late Otto F. and Althea Herzog Schneekloth. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. First Class during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. On April 6, 1953, he was united in marriage to Constance L. Jacobs in Chicago, IL. They were married for 59 years before Connie preceded him in death on January 26, 2013.
George was the Terminal Manager for J.L. Scheffler Transport, Inc. in Sheboygan for 34 years before his retirement in 1989. He previously worked for Badger Freightways, Inc. He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where he served on the consistory. He was a Life Member of the VFW Post 9156 and a member of the Sheboygan Traffic Club.
He worked as a part-time constable for the Village of Elkhart Lake and volunteered his time as a special deputy for the Sheboygan Sheriffs Department.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Donald (Amy Plank) Schneekloth, Neenah, George-Allen (Rachel Hedstrom) Schneekloth, Sheboygan, David Schneekloth, Sheboygan, and Sally Schneekloth, Weatherford, TX; three grandchildren, Dr. Brian (Michelle) Schneekloth, Palm Springs, CA, Dr. Lauren Schneekloth, State College, PA, and Lisa Schneekloth, Green Bay; his granddaughter-in-law, Pamela Schneekloth; and one great grandson, Tyler Schneekloth, Sheboygan; other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, Connie, he was preceded in death by his son, Frederick Schneekloth, a grandson, Nathan Schneekloth and his brother, Frederick "Smokey" Schneekloth.
A Memorial Service with full Military honors will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Lorri Steward will officiate Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Harvest Home in Howards Grove, and the compassionate care rendered by Heartland Hospice in his final week.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
