George J. Delorme

George J. "Jess" DeLorme, 87, of Sheboygan, passed away Monday morning, September 29, 2014 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Born May 5, 1927 in Duck Creek, WI, George was a son of the late Percy and Marie Mangin DeLorme. He attended Sheboygan area schools. He then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W.II. Following the war, he was united in marriage to Diane Papendieck. On June 18, 1982, he married Kathleen R. Netzer in Manitowoc, WI. They were married for 26 years before Kathleen preceded him in death on December 20, 2008. George was a fish culturist, hatching trout for numerous fish hatcheries in the area. He enjoyed woodworking and was an excellent craftsman. His greatest joy was being in the outdoors where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He previously played football for the Sheboygan Redwings. He is survived by his children Dan DeLorme, Plymouth, Ann DeLorme, Sheboygan, Jeff (Kathy) DeLorme, Caroline, WI, Donna Whipple, Sheboygan Falls, Mark DeLorme, Elkhart Lake, Dale (Linda) DeLorme, Sheboygan, and Pete (Sara) Gahagan, Plymouth; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; his sisters and brother, Delores DeLorme, River Falls, WI, Robert (Casey) DeLorme, Sheboygan, and Gail Pilz, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his step children, Kraig (Donna) Thayer, New Holstein, Kristine (Jeff) Farmer, Sheboygan, and Lisa Thayer, Sheboygan; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Kathleen, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald DeLorme, his grandson, Rocky DeLorme, a stepson, Keith Thayer, and a step daughter, Kay (Paul) Bunge. Private family services will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sunny Ridge Nursing Home and the St. Nicholas Hospital ER staff for all of their loving care and support. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with George's arrangements.
