Genevieve M. Guth, 85, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born October 28, 1931 in Wausaukee, WI, Genevieve was a daughter of the late Clifford and Vivian Long Philipps. On November 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Duane E. "Swede" Guth in Porterfield, WI. They were married for 61 years before Duane preceded her in death on July 7, 2012.
Gen worked at Handknit Hosiery for many years. She also worked for Enzo Gel and as a housekeeper for Jean and Richard Vollrath. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, cooking, baking, embroidering, knitting and crocheting. She and Duane enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl (Arthur) Magruder, Sheboygan, Karen (Milo) Haase, Oostburg, and Dawn Wassilus, Campbellsport; three grandchildren, Jason (Christine) Moeller, Kiel, Heather (Dennis) Wesolowski, Green Bay, and Derrick (Amy) Haase, Sheboygan; and her great granddaughter, Jayce Wesolowski; her brothers, Clyde (Joyce) Philipps, Peshtigo, Donald (Ardis) Philipps, Wausaukee, and Douglas (Lorraine) Philipps, Wausaukee; Sisters-in-law, Karen Philipps, Wausaukee, Sue Philipps, Marinette, Helen "Midge" Walters, Marinette, and Donna (Ron) Blickhahn, Appleton; her brother-in-law, Glenn Guth, Porterfield. She is further survived by her close friends, Ardelle TeWinkel, Sheboygan, and Fred (Rose) Zillner, Plymouth; and her two cats, Snickers and Lucie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, Duane, she was preceded in death by her sister, Verona "Snooks" (Earl) Herden, her brothers, Wayne and Gerald Philipps, her in-laws,Leonard Walters, Sandra Guth, Sally Philipps, and Lorraine (Lou) Peters.
Funeral services for Gen will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Lorri Steward will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank the staff of Home Instead, Morningside Health Center, and the nurses of St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
