Frederick Menzer, 97, of Sheboygan, passed away Monday afternoon, November 2, 2015 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center where he was receiving rehabilitation therapy. Born February 28, 1918 in Sheboygan, Frederick was a son of the late Frederick and Sophia Kossman Menzer. He attended area schools and graduated from Central High School. He continued his education with vocational training. On November 2, 1940, he was united in marriage to Grace H. Veldboom at Trinity Lutheran Church. They were married for 37 years before Grace preceded him in death on September 18, 1977. He then married Margaret Prasser on March 8, 1980 in Milwaukee. Fred owned and operated Menzer Glass from 1950 until his retirement but continued to remain active in the business into his 90's. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the Evening Optimists. He loved to garden but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Sheboygan Falls; his children, Robert (JoAnne) Menzer, Sheboygan, Frederick (Betty) Menzer, Brownsville, Kathleen (Mike) Skelton, Cleveland, and David (Julie) Menzer, Sheboygan; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Menzer, Sheboygan; his step children, Robert (Lehua) Prasser, HI, Cathy (Mark) Anderson, IL, Chris (Dickson) Lester, GA,; his step daughter-in-law, Mary Prasser, SD; his sister, Wilma Spindler, MN; 10 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his first wife, Grace, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald F. Menzer; his step-son, Rick Prasser; two brothers, Henry and Waldemar Menzer; and three sisters, Marie Peter, Frieda Faas and Emma Jones. Funeral services for Fred will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Avenue. Rev. Timothy Mech will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Pine Haven Christian Home, especially to Dawn, Sheboygan Progressive Care Center and Sheboygan Aurora Memorial Medical Center for all of their loving care and support.
