Frederick W. Kraus

Frederick W. Kraus, 86, formerly of MacArthur Avenue, Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014 at Countryside Manor where he had been residing. Born March 8, 1928 in Sheboygan, Fred was a son of the late Fred and Lillian Goedeke Kraus. Following high school, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marines with the 1st Marine Air Wing and the Marine Air Group 24 during W.W.II. He was stationed in China and Guam. On September 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to Muriel M. Jahnke in Milwaukee WI. Fred was an area supervisor and Assistant Director of Plant Operations with the Milwaukee School Board, retiring on March 18, 1988. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and was a member of the VFW Gross Yaksh Post 6498 for over 50 years in Milwaukee. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Muriel, Sheboygan; his three children, David (Virginia) Kraus, Sussex, Nancy (Gary) Ormsbee, Oshkosh, and Karen (Rick) Lutz, Del Ray Beach, FL; three grandsons, David (Anna), Matthew and Alex Kraus, all of Sussex; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends both in Sheboygan and Milwaukee. Funeral services for Fred will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Chapel of the Chimes, Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan, on Thursday April 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday at the Chapel of the Chimes, Wisconsin Memorial Park on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Eternal Life Mausoleum of Wisconsin Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Fred's arrangements. A special note of thanks to Chuck and Janie Britzman who aided in Fred going to the "Honor Flight for Veterans" to Washington DC, a day he will never forget. And to the nurses and staff at Countryside Manor and Hospice Advantage for all of their loving care and support.
