Evelyn M. Elsesser, age 94 of Sheboygan passed away peacefully Wednesday morning May 30, 2018 at Sheboygan Health Services with her son John by her side.
Evelyn was born in Benson, MN on February 29, 1924 to Warren Austin Mitchell and Myrtle Ida Jacobsen. Evelyn married Robert Vollrath, Sr. and had a son Robert (Susan)Vollrath, Jr. Evelyn married John Elsesser, Sr. and had a son John (Tammy) Elsesser, Jr. and 3 daughters, Jacqueline Elsesser, Debra (Eric) Conrath, and Sandra (Sam) Kuehnel.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bobby (Letty) Vollrath, Kelly (Todd) Walker, Kurt (Lizzie) Conrath, Jennifer Munnik (Joe Bonelli), Andrea (Jason) Heidl, Christopher Loeffler, Angela (Jason) Wilke, Kyle (Allison) Conrath, Elle Kuehnel, Max Kuehnel. In addition, 16 great grandchildren.
Evelyn was a member of the Apostolic Bible Church and baptized in the name of Jesus, by immersion on May 8, 1983. She received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on July 8th, 1983 with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Evelyn lived a vibrant and healthy life. She was a passionate lifelong learner and avid reader, well read in many subjects including: government, health, politics, food, history and much more. She read her Bible daily and had a personal relationship with Jesus. She enjoyed going to church regularly, being with her grandchildren, and granddogs.
Evelyn worked at Memorial Hospital as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She also assisted in the family support center, as well as the psychiatric center.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Wallace Mitchell, sister Dorothy Mitchell, brother in law, Robert Reif, husbands, and daughter, Debra Conrath.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 at The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. The Rev. Jason Wilke will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Nicholas ICU, Hospice, and the staff at the Sheboygan Health Services for the wonderful loving care they provided her with in her last days. Also, to her grandaughter, Angie Wilke, the Hospice Facilitator, for her dedicated and loving efforts to her grandmother. Finally, to her loving granddaughter, Jennifer Munnik, who was like her daughter, for her dedicated service to her, her whole life. She will be greatly missed by all!
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
