Evelyn (Evie) Arlene (Steinhilber) Schilling, age 88 of Rocky Knoll Heath Care Facility, Plymouth, WI, formerly of Cedar Grove, WI.
Born May 8, 1927 in St. Paul, MN, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Richard and Lucille (Anklam) Steinhilber. The family moved to Milwaukee, WI where she met her husband, Donald Schilling, in her early 20’s. They were united in marriage on April 12, 1952, and later called Cedar Grove, WI her home. Evie’s passion was her devotion to the Lord and her family. Evie and Donald opened their home to everyone to gather…sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, grandkids, cousins, neighbors and friends. There was never a lack of activity and love in the Schilling house. Evie enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, teddy bears, baking Christmas cookies, fishing, music, bingo, bowling, her dog Buffy, playing board games and spending time with “The Neighbors”. She was an active member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
In addition to raising their 10 children, Evie was employed at Larson Canning Co. and Tolibia Cheese.
Survived by her children, Donald Schilling Jr. (Cris) of Oscoda, MI, Kristine Deskins (Jack) of Moundville, AL, Richard Schilling (Jacquie) of Jim Falls, WI, Justin Schilling (Kathy) of Southern Pines, NC, Cassandra Rogers of Sheboygan, WI, Steven Schilling (Robie) of Holcombe, WI, Ernest Schilling (Kris) of Markesan, WI, Debbie Duncan (Stephen) of Spotsylvania, VA and Terry Schilling (Terri) of Stanley, WI. Her sisters Janet Pruitt of Milwaukee, WI and Joyce Steinhilber of Milwaukee, WI, 37 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald Arthur Schilling, her son, Thomas Len Schilling, her granddaughter, Shellie Lamp, siblings Elenor Cole, Gene Steinhilber and Audrey Smith.
A celebration of life for Evelyn will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 136 W. Union Avenue, Cedar Grove, WI. The Rev. David Cornette will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Union Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
