Eugenia Chocienko

Eugenia Chocienko, 101 of Sheboygan, died April 2, 2013, at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehab Center. Born March 7, 1912, in Wolkowysk, Poland, Eugenia was a daughter of the late Hugo and Maria Liszko. On November 25, 1936, she was united in marriage to Wladimir Chocienko in Poland. The couple moved to Sheboygan in 1951 from Germany, under sponsorship of First Congregational United Church of Christ. Eugenia was employed by Hand Knit (WigWam Mills) as a hand embroiderer for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, shopping and talking world politics. Eugenia was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Tamara "Terry" and Roy Van Sluys, Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Tina (Allan) Colaco, Sheboygan, Troy Van Sluys, Sheboygan; two great grandchildren, Christian and Antonio Colaco, both of Sheboygan; other relatives and friends. Eugenia was preceded in death by her daughter Edyta Chocienko and two sisters, Lillie and Marta. Private graveside services were held at Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sunny Ridge Health and Rehab for the loving care they gave Eugenia.
