Eugene Edward Fischer, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, November 28, 2016 at Terrace Estates where he was residing.
Born July 26, 1927 in Sheboygan, Eugene was a son of the late Edward and Olga Werner Fischer. He attended area schools and graduated from Central High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. On September 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ramona Palubicki in Sheboygan. They were married for 30 years before Ramona preceded him in death on November 13, 1982. On November 12, 1994, he married Virginia Kammerzelt in Sheboygan.
Gene worked for Verifine Dairy for 24 years. He previously worked at Plastics Engineering for 16 years. Following his retirement, he worked at Walmart and Black Wolf Run. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the Snafu Club. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling and golf. He was an avid Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, Sheboygan; his children, Michael (Susan) Fischer, and Julie (Phil) Manz, both of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Fischer, Sheboygan, Amanda Rowe, Sheboygan, Gregory Manz, Madison, and Rebecca (Michael) Dreier, Cedarburg; five great grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Nytes, Sheboygan Falls; and his nephew, Ronald Nytes, Sheboygan. He is further survived by his two step daughters, Joan (Ken) King, Sheboygan, and Linda Olsen, Sheboygan; four step grandchildren, Jon (Dena) Cvetan, Sheboygan, Andrew (Abigail) King, TX, Angela (Walter) Grauer, Sheboygan, and Jeffrey Olsen, Chicago; and five step great grandchildren.
According to Gene's wishes, private family services will be held. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Terrace Place, especially Bobbi and Sejla, and St. Nicholas Hospice, especially Julia and Terri, for all of their loving care and support.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Eugene's arrangements.
