Ester O. Penaranda, 84, of Sheboygan passed away Friday night, January 2, 2015 at Grafton Aurora Medical Center. Born March 15, 1930 in Manila, Philippines, Ester was the daughter of Virginio and Catalina Valencia Ocampo. She attended school in Manila. On September 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Salvador Penaranda in the Philippines. Salvador preceded her in death on November 21, 1960. She then moved to the United States on February 25, 1990. Ester was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and watching television but her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Erlinda Legaspi, Sheboygan, Adela (Teofilo) Samson, Primativo Penaranda and Cesar (Armi) Penaranda, all of the Philippines; her two daughter-in-laws, Alice and Edith Penaranda, both of the Philippines; many grandchildren including Elizalde (Victoria) Legaspi, Elizabeth (Erich) Ponath and Emilyn (Michael) Cupp, all of Sheboygan; her sister, Virginia Florida, Philippines; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Salvador, she was preceded in death by two sons, Raymundo and Victor Penaranda, her son-in-law, Emilio Legaspi, her brother, Ruben Ocampo, and two sisters, Amelia Silao and Celia Ocampo. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 805 Huron Avenue. Father Matthew Widder will celebrate the Mass. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Grafton Aurora Medical Center for all of their loving care and support.
