Elli Westfall passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2014, she was 19 and had been struggling with the disease of depression. Elli was born February 28, 1995 in West Allis, WI and attended Grant Elementary, Urban Middle School, and graduated from North High School in 2013. She most recently was a student at UW-Whitewater. Elli is survived by her parents Karla Zahn and Andy Ketterhagen and Dr. Jack Westfall and Rev. Judine Duerwaechter, sisters Harper Westfall, Mikal Westfall, step sisters Sonia Copeskey Tanna (Samir) Anna Hopkins (Zach Polos) both of Chicago IL, and Emily Hopkins (Baron Gottsacker) of Sheboygan, Jessica (Justin) Huntziger (Dallas, TX), grandparents Karl and Doris Zahn of Whitewater and Ed and Helga Westfall of Sheboygan, aunts Laura (Pete) Pohl of Wheaton, Jill (Pete) Simmons of Vence FL, and Daryl (Don) Scane of Westlake Village, CA and cousins Nick and Erica Pohl, Micheal Scane, Pete (Maren), Tim (Amy) and Jeff Simmons. Elli was preceded in death by her Grandma Sue O'Heron Westfall of Sheboygan. Elli enjoyed serving in student council and was graduating-class secretary at North High School. She helped coordinate the blood drives, participated in band, track, cross country, and her favorite-EXPO synchronized swimming. She worked closely with Chris Lenz during her senior year to coordinate various events for the senior class, served as student help for Dan Stengel in the athletic office, and video taped all the home boys basketball games. During the summer, Elli initially worked as a volunteer at Camp Anokigij in Plymouth where she loved being with the kids and teaching sailing. The last couple of summers Elli worked at the Sheboygan Yacht Club and for Sheboygan Youth Sailing in roles as dock attendant, waitress, and sailing instructor, her favorite job. She was a regular crew member for races on Mike Larson's boat, Miss Eudora. In addition to sailing, Elli was a regular runner, snow boarder and cyclist. As a student at UW-Whitewater she was an officer with the American Marketing Association. Elli had gone through the interview process and was selected to be a Peer Mentor for the 2014-15 year. She recently joined the UW-Whitewater cycling team. Elli enjoyed her new extended families in both Boulder, CO and Chicago, IL, visiting her Uncles Rob and Chris Ketterhagen and their families, and the Tom Ketterhagen family with her new 10 cousins in Texas, and visiting her step sisters in Chicago, to include taking care of her twin nephews, Max and Dev Tanna. A Celebration of Life for Elli will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at First Congregational Church, 310 Bluff Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Saturday from 2:00 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Elli's name or donations may be made to the Sheboygan Youth Sailing Club Endowment Fund.
