Elizabeth A. "Betty" Van Der Weele, 74, of Sheboygan, passed away early Saturday morning, October 29, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her family.
Born May 31, 1942 in Sheboygan, Betty was a daughter of the late Howard and Lorraine Ellenbecker Kittelson. She attended Sheboygan area schools. On March 4, 1983, she was united in marriage to Melvin J. Van Der Weele. They were married for 17 years before Melvin preceded her in death in September of 2000.
Betty was a homemaker who also worked with her husband in their cleaning business. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She was also a member of the 1907 Club and enjoyed the many friendships she made there and also with her second family at 909 Ontario Avenue.
She is survived by her son, James (Julie) Herschleb, Kiel, her daughter, Trudy (Dale) Kunstman, Sheboygan, her step son, Larry (Geri) Van Der Weele, Sheboygan, her step daughter, Cynthia (Dan) Kaiser, Waldo, her step daughter, Rosalie (William) Miller, Sheboygan, and her step daughter, Leila (Barry) Johnson, Sheboygan; twenty grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; her brother, John (Jean) Kittelson, Sheboygan; her sisters, Lori Matzdorf, Oostburg, and Rosie Hermann, Sheboygan Falls; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Kittelson, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, Melvin, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Maxine LaFave, her step son, Marvin Van Der Weele, her brother, Joseph Kittelson, and her brother-in-law, Gil Matzdorf.
Funeral services for Betty will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Avenue. The Rev. Timothy Mech will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan, on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank her second family at 909 Ontario Avenue, Dr. S. Mark Bettag and his staff and the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
