Elinor J. Buchs

Elinor Jane (nee Griffiths) Buchs, 95, passed away peacefully at White Pine Senior Living in Fridley, MN on September 27, 2016 with family by her side.
Born in Wales, Wisconsin on January 13, 1921 to John and Jane Griffiths, her childhood was filled with warm memories of growing up on the family farm. Elinor’s father had come to this country from Wales UK when he was 18 years old. He was filled with such pride and loyalty to his adopted country. Elinor felt and lived that same pride and patriotism for the U.S.A. in her own life.
Elinor worked in the banking industry throughout her career at a time when women were just beginning to combine a career and motherhood. She ended her banking career as a Vice-President at Southwest State Bank in Sheboygan, WI. Elinor was passionate about volunteering and helping others. She quietly helped others often without attention to herself. She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan since 1947. She served in multiple roles during her lifetime including serving as Financial Secretary for more than 25 years. Elinor has also been a member of Eastern Star since 1943 serving as their Worthy Matron of the Sheboygan Chapter in 1980-81.
Elinor married Edward W. Buchs September 29, 1943. They have five children, Elizabeth (William) Calog, Champaign, IL, Edward W. (Karen) Buchs, Genoa City, WI, Janet Anderson, Appleton, WI, Linda (Charles) Buchs-Hammonds , Mounds View, MN, and Kevin (Karen) Buchs, Berwyn, IL, 12 grandchildren, Jeff (Erica) Calog, Janine (John) Toner, Jennifer (Steve) Kurthy, Joshua (Evelyn Shober) Buchs, Cristian (Patti Rollberg) Anderson, Amanda Anderson, Erik (Kristi) Anderson, Jonathan (Sarah) Axtmann, Justin (Clare) Gromoll, Laura Buchs-Hammonds, Lisa (Jacob Janssen) Buchs and David (Jessica) Buchs; and 14 great grandchildren, Riley, Reid and Raegan Toner, Skylar Shober, Jada Anderson, Elijah, Asher and Liliana Anderson, Trevor Dwelis, Sam Gromoll, Virginia Axtmann, and baby boy Gromoll due in March, Nathaniel, Theodore and Matthias Buchs.
Elinor was preceded in death by, her husband, Edward, who died February 15, 1981. Elinor married Donovan A. Dutton on August 29, 1985. Donovan died in August 22,1994. She was also preceded in death by her brothers William and Edward "Dave", and her sister Elizabeth.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1429 North 5th St., Sheboygan, Wisconsin on November 5, 2016. The Rev. Cynthia Little will officiate. Elinor’s remains will be buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be designated to the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan, WI.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Elinor's arrangements.
The family is grateful for the loving care Elinor received at Pine Haven in Sheboygan Falls, Pine Ridge in Wisconsin Rapids, White Pine in Fridley, MN and the Allina Hospice team.
