Elaine M. Worm

Elaine M. (Ponath) Worm, the oldest of five children born May 14, 1927 to Erich and Minnie (Reimer) Ponath, passed away early Monday morning, October 16, 2017 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Elaine was confirmed and graduated from St. Paul Lutheran in 1941. She graduated from North High School in 1945. Married on July 12, 1947 to Robert Worm at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary before Robert passed away on October 28, 1997.
Elaine worked for Fasse Paint Co. as their office manager for over 30 years. She was a volunteer for Partners in Reading and served as treasurer for the "My Own Book" program. She was a foster grandmother for the Sheboygan Area School District. She was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church and active in the Mary Martha Guild.
Elaine and her late husband owned the Pigeon River Orchard where they were known as "Mr. and Mrs. Apple." Their family and friends always looked forward to apple season and all the delicious "Carmel Apples" Elaine made. She enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking, making quilts for her family, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Ralph (Connie) Worm, Sheboygan, Phyllis (Bryan) Becker, Elkhart Lake, and Laura (Jeffrey) Behrens, Sheboygan; eight amazing grandchildren, Ryan (Kristi) Worm, Brett (Tracy) Becker, Rev. Matthew (Sherrah) Behrens, Courtney (Mark) James, Darcy Adams, Mamie Elaine (special friend Shawn Theis) Behrens,
Dr. Stacia (Ryan) Schmidt, and Dana Rohde; and sixteen cherished great-grandchildren, Zachary Worm, Bennet Becker, Emma Baier, Jonathan Worm, Raena Becker, Grace Rohde, Elissa Worm, Cami Baier, Jameson Schmidt, Blake Becker, Cooper Schmidt, Jaxon James, James Behrens, Kai James, Lucy Elaine Behrens, and Daphne Adams; her sister, Ruth Fasse; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norm & Diane Worm, Eugene Kolander, and Arlene Rowinski. She is further survived by her special friend, Aryln Fritsch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she preceded in death by her daughter, Eunice Worm, grandson, Heath Worm, brothers, Roger (Helen and Ingrid) and Ronald (Shirley) Ponath, a sister, Marguerite Kolander, and a brother-in-law Harvey Fasse.
Funeral services for Elaine will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Luther Memorial Church, 1127 Eisner Avenue, Sheboygan. The Rev. Adam Barkley and her grandson Rev. Matthew Behrens, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of The Shores and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Elaine's arrangements.
