Elaine A. Beinemann

June 21, 1928 — December 19, 2016

Elaine Beinemann, age 88, passed away on Monday evening, December 19, 2016 at Waterford of Plymouth, after a long journey with Alzheimer ’s disease. Throughout this journey her tremendous sense of wit, wonder and deep caring appeared ever so often as her memories of a well-lived life slowly faded away.
Elaine was born on June 21, 1928, the oldest of four children of Martin and Romilda Hoogstra. She was a lifelong resident of Sheboygan graduating from Central High in 1946 where she was a proud member of the National Honor Society.
Elaine married her soulmate, Alfred Beinemann, on September 4, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Al and Elaine enjoyed life and were loving parents to their two sons, Bob and Jim.
Elaine was a homemaker while her sons were young, eventually returning to the workplace performing secretarial/accounting work at local employers including Pranges, R-Way Furniture, Horace Mann School and retiring from Sheboygan County in 1988. Elaine was a creative woman who enjoyed the wonder of nature and drives along Lake Michigan. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe, with her greatest joy being derived by spending time with her two grandchildren. She has truly earned their designation of “best grandma ever.”
Elaine is survived by her sons, Robert (Jean) of Sheboygan and James of Pocatello, Idaho. She is further survived by grandson Matthew of Sheboygan and granddaughter Amanda of Rochester, Minnesota, a sister, Corinne (Jack) Bohnsack, sister-in-law’s Jeanette (late George) Ruppenthal and Jan (late Richard) Beinemann as well as nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Mervin Hoogstra and sister Lorraine Benner.
Elaine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sheboygan.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Elaine will be laid to rest next to her husband Al at the Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
Elaine’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Elaine’s caregivers at Waterford of Plymouth and Heartland Hospice. Your efforts to provide quality care and compassion to Elaine throughout the past six years have been truly amazing.
