Edward A. Neerhof

March 16, 1925 — February 9, 2013

Edward A. Neerhof, 87, formerly of N. 27th Street , passed away Saturday afternoon, February 9, 2013 at Morningside Health Care Center where he had been residing. Born March 16, 1925 in Waldo, Edward was a son of the late Albert and Jennie Hoftiezer Neerhof. He attended Banner Grade School and graduated from Waldo High School. On June 29, 1948, he was united in marriage to Marjorie A. Huibregtse in Sheboygan. Edward was a shipping and receiving clerk at Sears for 39 years, retiring in 1987. He was an active member of Hope Reformed Church where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school superintendent, sang in the choir and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking, traveling and camping. Spending time with his grandchildren was a highlight of his life. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie; his son, Richard (Joyce) Neerhof, St. Ansgar, IA; his daughter, Jana (Kenneth) Moss, Eldridge, IA; six grandchildren, Anne (Austin) Hellbusch, Pella, IA, Elisabeth (Thomas) Kirby, Mason City, IA, Kristen (Mitchell) Andringa, Bettendorf, IA, Kaitlyn (Morgan) Troendle, Cedar Falls, IA, Kara Moss, Eldridge, IA, and Kellen Moss, Eldridge, IA; three great grandchildren, Aren Hellbusch, Pella, IA, Allysen Hellbusch, Pella, IA, and Brodyn Troendle, Cedar Falls, IA; two brothers, Henry (Greta) Neerhof, Cedar Grove, and Ralph (Alma) Neerhof, Waldo; a sister, Muriel (Ralph) Storm, Eau Claire; a brother-in-law, Roland (Patricia) Huibregtse, Sheboygan Falls; and a sister-in-law, Lenore Davis, Lebanon, TN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Donald (Henrietta) Huibregtse and Ray Davis, and a sister-in-law, Marie Neerhof. Funeral services for Edward will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Hope Reformed Church, 612 Ontario Avenue. The Rev. William TeWinkle, pastor, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday evening, February 12, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue and again on Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Hingham Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Terrace Estates, Morningside and Hospice Advantage for all of their loving care and support. The Lippert-Olson Funeral Home has been entrusted with Edward's arrangements.
