Edward C. Lucchesi, age 78 of Sheboygan passed away surrounded by family on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Harvest Home in Howard's Grove after a 13 year struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born June 11, 1940 in Milwaukee to Clarence and Lillian (Burian) Lucchesi, Ed attended Milwaukee Area Schools and graduated from Boy’s Tech and completed an apprenticeship with the Milwaukee Road. On June 9, 1990, he was united in marriage to Catherine Hyde Butler. After moving to Sheboygan, Ed worked for The Kohler Company until his retirement in 2006.Ed was an active member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Sheboygan. He was an avid Packer Fan, having owned season tickets since the Packers played in Milwaukee. His greatest involvement was with Masonry and Tripoli Shrine Animals. As the character “Garfield”, Ed marched for 100’s of miles on arthritic knees out of his love of children- both the one’s hospitalized at Shiners Hospitals who were beneficiaries of funds earned by Shriners as well as the children giving “Garfield” hugs all along the parade routes. Ed loved people in general, to him no person was a stranger. Many have commented on his warm smiles, humor and wonderful hugs. Having been raised by a baker, he never met a sweet he didn’t love! Ed is survived by his wife Cathy Lucchesi, his children Marko (Pearl) Lucchesi of West Allis, Steven Lucchesi of Las Vegas, Krista (Karlin Sorenson) Lucchesi of Oakland, CA, Barb (Steve) Shircel of Plymouth, and Rick (Colleen) Butler of Sheboygan. Ed is further survived by his sister Carol Collins-Lucchesi of Menetou-Sur-Nahon, France and 7 beloved grandchildren: Ashley Lillian Lucchesi, Carrie Chamberlain, Cassie Lucchesi, Amalie Sorenson, Zach Butler, and Nick and Devin Shircel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Lucchesi.A Masonic funeral and memorial service for Edward will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Ave., Sheboygan. The Rev. Lorri Steward will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Internment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707-3392.The family would like to especially thank the staff of Harvest Home and Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Ed and his family.
