Earl A. Kress, 88, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday night, December 11, 2015 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his family.
Born June 16, 1927 in Sheboygan, Earl was a son of the late Norbert and Roma Harfiel Kress. He attended Cleveland area schools and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marines during WWII. On May 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Helen A. Becker in Hika, WI.
Earl worked for the Vollrath Company for 38 years before his retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and served as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Sheboygan for 50 years. He and Helen were members of the "Once a Month Dance Club" for many years. He loved to travel and was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen; his children, Gene Kress, Sheboygan Falls, Linda (Rodney) Schreurs, Cedar Grove, and Jerry (Cindy) Kress, Phoenix, AZ; his seven grandchildren, Cameron Kress, Sheboygan, Holly Kress, Sheboygan, Rhonda (Craig) Fellenz, Plymouth, Ryan (Christine) Schreurs, Random Lake, and Kelly, Kyle and Kevin Kress, all of Phoenix; nine great grandchildren, Grayson, Alli, Sami, Landon, Dominic, Wyatt, Hunter, Jordan and Rylann; his brothers, James (Donna) Kress, Green Bay, and Melvin (Theresa) Kress, Cleveland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Gordon, Jerome and Harvey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 21st & Geele Avenue. Fr. Philip Reifenberg will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment with full military honors will take place at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum of Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
