Duane Edward Guth, age 84, died unexpectedly at Golden Living Center after lengthy illnesses. He was born June 25, 1928 in Marinette, WI to the late Edward & Frances (Schwartz) Guth. He attended Winesville School in Porterfield, WI and then assisted on the family farm. On Nov. 11, 1950, Duane married Genevieve (Gen) Philipps in Porterfield, He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal and was stationed in Alaska. In 1950 Duane was employed at Kohler Company and then worked at various manufacturing jobs until 1959. He became a journeyman tool & die maker at Polar Ware, and then worked at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years. Duane belonged to a snowmobile club, the DAV and Parkinson's Assoc. He was also an avid supporter of many worthy causes. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, watching football and baseball games and spending time at their seasonal home in Porterfield. In his later years, playing dice and attending family gatherings brought him much pleasure. Duane is survived by his wife, Genevieve and three daughters, Cheryl (Art) Magruder, Karen (Milo) Haase and Dawn (Don) Wassilus; three grandchildren, Jason (Christine) Moeller, Heather (Dennis) Wesolowski and Derrick (Amy Beernink) Haase; three great-grandchilden, Jayce Joy, Christopher and Michael Wesolowski. Further survivors include two sisters, Helen (Lenny) Walters and Donna (Ron) Blickhahn and one brother, Glenn Guth, and other relatives, along with close friends, Ardelle TeWinkel and Fred and Rosie Zillner. Funeral service for Duane will take place at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 3027 Wilgus Ave, with the Rev. Bryan Osladil officiating. Family and friends are welcome at the Church on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Entombment will be in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in Duane's name for Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Parkinson's Assoc, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the DAV. We would like to thank all of the staff of St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice and Golden Living Center for the kind care they gave Duane.
