Dorothy J. Huebner, 85, formerly of 1710 N. 25th Street, passed away Saturday morning, December 15, 2012 at Sunny Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center where she had been residing. Born January 22, 1927 in Sheboygan, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Fred and Jennie Hoekstra Goedeke. She attended area schools and graduated from North High School on June 12, 1945. On November 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to Roderick Frederick Carl Huebner at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Darien, WI by her cousin, the Rev. Edgar R. Engelking. Rod preceded her in death in 1980. Dorothy was a bookkeeper for Joe George Auto Parts for 14 years and then retired from Sheboygan Auto Supply after 19 years on December 31, 1999. Dorothy was a life long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, baptized on March 13, 1927 and confirmed on April 6, 1941. She belonged to the senior choir for several years. She was also a member of the Daughters of St. Mark's and held the office of president for two years. She bowled on many teams over the years and volunteered in the sandwich making department of the American Red Cross until ill health forced her retirement. She belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi Society and on April 30, 1953, she was awarded the "Girl of the Year" in the Beta Mu Chapter. Dorothy's greatest joy was raising, training and showing dogs. Boston Terriers and American Cocker Spaniels which she did this for over 50 years. She is survived by her sister, Joan Haase, Mission Viejo, CA; her niece and caretaker, Rita (Steve) Bender, Plymouth, and her foster daughter, Karen Wolff, Sheboygan; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides her parents and her husband, Rod, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth (Henry) Rautmann; brother-in-law, Dennis Haase; her sister-in-law, Gretna (Benjamin) Baumann, and her niece, Beverly Baumann. Dorothy donated her body to the U.W. Wisconsin Medical College. There will be no services at this time. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Lutheran Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Sunny Ridge for all of their loving care and support.
