Doris A. Schuette, 96, a lifelong resident of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday morning, July 28, 2016 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.
Doris was born August 14, 1919, the daughter of the late George and Louisa (Schomburg) Schuette. She attended local schools and graduated from Central High School in 1937. Doris worked at various jobs after high school and also attended the university extension before entering the military.
Doris proudly served her country during WWII as a SPAR in the U.S. Coast Guard. She served from 1943-1945. After her discharge from the Coast Guard, Doris started her employment at the Sheboygan Clinic in 1946. She worked for Dr. William Esser, DDS as a dental assistant, as a receptionist for Drs. Robert Wood and James Hildebrand and finally in the business office. She retired from the Clinic in 1982.
Through the years, Doris was active in many community and civic groups including Sheboygan Civic Chorus and Sheboygan Community Players. She was also active as a volunteer at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers and their wives, Rudolph (Eva), Reinhold (Eliza) and Harvey (Marie). Doris is survived by 6 nieces, Barbara, Beverly, Bonney, Patricia, Joanne, Mary Kay and their families. She also leaves behind her longtime friend Rosemary Oppeneer of Sheboygan and dear friends and caretakers Marge and Andy Giesen of Sheboygan.
Per Doris' request, there will be no visitation and no service. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.
