Donald J. Zimmermann

Born June 17, 1928 in Sheboygan, Donald was a son of the late Jacob and Anna Miesfeld Zimmermann. He attended area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1947. On January 27, 1951, he was united in marriage to Shirley P. LaValliere at St. Dominic Catholic Church. They were married for 48 years before Shirley preceded him in death on April 15, 1999.
Don was a steamfitter at Optenburg Iron Works for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Marilyn) Zimmermann, Cleveland, and Sharon (Vernon) Boedecker, Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Zimmermann, DePere, Dawn (Bryan) Elias, Sheboygan, Jamie (Ben) Englebert, Howards Grove, and Benjamin (Kristin) Butzen, Fond du Lac; three step grandchildren, Andrew (Kathy) Boedecker, OH, Amanda Boedecker, Howards Grove, and Heather (Jack) Phillips, KY; eleven great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; his brother, Conrad (Joan) Zimmermann, Kohler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Zimmermann and an infant son, his infant grandson, his sister, Ruth (Jerome) Sneider, his sister-in-law, Donna DeBruin, and his brother-in-law, Wallace LaValliere.
Per his wishes, private family services will be held. Inurnment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kerpe and Doris Theune, the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Senior Community, Pine Haven Christian Home, and Sunny Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Donald's arrangements.
