Donald John Gottsacker

Donald J. Gottsacker, 85, of 1722 N. 37th Street, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Born July 22, 1927 in Sheboygan, Donald was a son of the late Rolland and Ella Simon Gottsacker. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from North High School in 1945. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. On July 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Delores May Welsch in the rectory of Holy Name Catholic Church. Don was a superintendent for Larson Plywood Company for 40 years. He then went to work for Ebenreiter Woodworking Company and at the R-Way Furniture Company before he retired. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Don was very active, volunteering for over 20 years around Sheboygan County including the Sheboygan Clinic and working at the voting poles. He enjoyed playing cards, loved gardening, was an avid reader and appreciated the world of finance and investments. He is survived by his wife, Delores; his son, Michael (Gail B.) Gottsacker, Elkhart Lake; two grandchildren, Jason Gottsacker, Chicago, and Jennifer (David) Klinzing, Howards Grove; one great grandson, Gavin Klinzing, Howards Grove; his sister, Mary (Donald) Gaydos, Madison; sisters-in-law, Marion Le Mahieu, Sheboygan Falls, and Donna Gottsacker, Kiel; a brother-in-law, Elroy (Marion) Begalke, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Robert, and a sister-in-law, Betty Begalke. Funeral services for Don will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar, pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate the service and the V.F.W. Post 9156 will accord full Military Honors. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Garden Terrace Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in his name for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. The Lippert-Olson Funeral Home has been entrusted with Donald's arrangements.
