Donald C. Hoeft, 88, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday evening, January 28, 2015 at his home. Born March 9, 1926 in Oshkosh, Donald was a son of the late Herbert and Erna Procknow Hoeft. He attended Oshkosh area grade schools and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1944. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during W.W.II from 1944 to 1946. Following the service, he continued his education at the U.W. Oshkosh, graduating with a degree in education. On August 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joanne L. Imig in Waukesha. They were married for 50 years before Joanne preceded him in death on May 22, 2002. Don worked for the Sheboygan Area School for 37 years, retiring as the Principal of Longfellow Middle School on August 31, 1987. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post 83, the Sheboygan Masonic Lodge #11, a Shriner, a life member of the Elks Club #299 and an honorary founder of Elks National Foundation. He spent many hours volunteering at the Stefanie Weill Theater. He is survived by two sisters, Pat (Earl) Struensee and Sue Dohrman, both of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law, Dawn Imig and Janice Hoeft; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Joanne, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Herbert Hoeft, and brother-in-law Kenneth Dohrman. A Memorial Service for Don will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Richard Manny will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Don's arrangements.
