Dolores M. (Perle) Oldenburg, 88, followed her daughter to heaven on Thursday morning, February 15, 2018.
Born December 23, 1929 in Sheboygan, Dolores was a daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Richter) Perle. She attended St. Dominic Parochial School and graduated from Central High School in 1949.
After high school she followed her free spirit and went to live in Colorado and then California. She was ahead of her time by becoming a career woman. However in 1957, Dolores was called back to Sheboygan to be with her ailing father and stayed to give emotional support to her mother. During this time, Dolores became a certified nursing assistant at St. Nicholas Hospital. She enjoyed taking care of people and making friends. During this time, she met and married Herbert W. Oldenburg on July 1, 1960. After marriage, Dolores stayed home to raise two daughters, Monica and Angela. Eventually, Dolores went back to being a CNA at Morningside, Meadow View and Sunny Ridge Nursing Homes and retired from Sunny Ridge in 1991.
When Dolores was younger, she played the piano and would perform for family and friends on Sundays while her father played the violin. Dolores also enjoyed drawing portraits, knitting and popular crafts.
As the years went by, Dolores loved spending time with family and friends. She showed her love of others though volunteering at Sunny Ridge after retirement. Although she never drove, she enjoyed walking, bus riding and flying to visit family and friends. Dolores was more special than her children ever imagined.
She is survived by her daughter, Monica (James "Buzz") Butzen, Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Derek Butzen, CO, Jessica Butzen, Sheboygan, Haley (Danny Tapia) Koman, Delaware, OH, and Riley Koman, Delaware, OH; sisters-in-law, Marion Oldenburg, Sheboygan, Maryanne Oldenburg, Sheboygan and Mary Oldenburg, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Herbert, her daughter, Angela, her brothers Alvin and Daniel Perle, and many brother and sister-in-laws, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Dolores will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Deacon Rich Gulig will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Meadow View Manor and St. Nicholas Home Health and Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
