Delores M. Gottsacker, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away early Saturday morning, October 14, 2017 at Pine Haven Christian Home where she had been residing.
Born February 18, 1926 in Sheboygan, Delores was a daughter of the late Gottlieb and Amalia Meser Welsch. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School. She continued her education at the Sheboygan Business School. She then worked for the Sheboygan Area School District and the Sheboygan Job Service. On July 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Gottsacker in the Rectory of Holy Name Catholic Church. They were married for 63 years before Donald preceded her in death on April 17, 2013. You rarely saw one without the other.
Delores was a stay at home mother who raised son, Michael. At the age of 44, she went back to work at the Sheboygan Clinic as a medical secretary for 23 1/2 years before her retirement in 1993. She was very proud to have never taken a sick day and for being recognized as the employee of the month. Following her retirement, she and Donald volunteered at the Sheboygan Clinic, The Weill Center, the voting poles, food pantry and many other fund raising events. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the Bible study. She enjoyed sewing clothes and drapery, bread making, walking, board games, playing horseshoes in the back yard, ice and roller skating and hosting gatherings of family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Gail) Gottsacker, Elkhart Lake; two grandchildren, Jason Gottsacker, Mason City, IA, and Jennifer (David) Klinzing, Howards Grove; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Logan Klinzing, Howards Grove; her sister-in-law, Mary (Donald) Gaydos, Madison; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty (Elroy) Begalke and Marion (Eugene) Le Mahieu.
Funeral services will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 1810 N. 13th Street. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
