Delores A. Johnson, 85, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Sunny Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Born February 28, 1932 in Sheboygan, Delores was a daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude Senkbeil Holzhausen. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. She then went on to telephone operator school in Milwaukee. On June 30, 1951, She was united in marriage to Stuart G. Johnson in Sheboygan.
Delores worked as the head of housekeeping at Morningside Nursing Home until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cross stitch and her flower garden. She loved going to Las Vegas and to the local casinos. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered for never forgetting a birthday and her 5 dollar birthday card gifts.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Stuart; her three sons, Scot (Lindsay) Johnson, Jeff (Heidi) Johnson and Gary (Robin Schubert) Johnson, all of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Jason (Meredith) Johnson, Sayville, NY, Jennifer (Dave) Scheel, Plymouth, April (Dan) Soerens, Plymouth, and Kelly (Matt Sandner) Kau, Sheboygan; eight great grandchildren; her two sisters, Nancy (Robert) Schmidt, Louisburg, NC, and Susan (Robert) Glaeser, Sheboygan; her sisters-in-law, Marlene Holzhausen, Oshkosh, and Marie Uttech; her brothers-in-law, Frank Geisler, Sheboygan, and Thomas (Sue) Horn, Oostburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Holzhausen, and her sister, Sara Geisler.
Funeral services for Delores will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Chapel of Eternal Light of Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Avenue, Kohler. The Rev. Roger Mealiff will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the chapel on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
