Delbert F. Shaffer, 89, formerly of Monroe, WI, passed away at his home in Sheboygan on September 4, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Born August 5, 1935, in Monroe, WI, Delbert was a son of the late Chester and Leona Campbell Shaffer. He attended Monroe area schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1953. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. On December 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Judith A. Holland at the First Methodist Church in Monroe.
Delbert worked for Wisconsin Power & Light as a boiler operator for 20 years before his retirement in 1997. He previously owned and operated Shaffer Mobil Oil Company in Monroe. He was a current member of Zion Evangelical Covenant Church in Sheboygan. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed playing league golf and bowling. Delbert and Judy loved traveling overseas and spending time at their home in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Judith; his children, Craig Shaffer, Dothan, AL, and Susan (Aloys) Tauscheck, Sheboygan; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Shaffer, Spring Green, WI; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Eigenheer, Dylan (Katie) Shaffer, Joshua (Sara) Shaffer, Jennifer (Adam) Rahn, Elliott Tauscheck, Gabrielle Tauscheck, Adrienne Tauscheck, and Madeleine Tauscheck; nine great grandchildren; a brother Gary (Judith) Shaffer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Shaffer and a great granddaughter, Scarlett.
Private family services will take place at a later date. Inurnment will take place in Bethel Hawthorne Cemetery in Monroe.
The family would like to thank his caretaker, Lori Amanda, and Embrace care for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Delbert's arrangements.
