Dean D. Dayton, 62, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, October 2, 2014 at his home. Born March 9, 1952 in Shawano, WI, Dean was the only son of the late Daniel A. and Elvira "Vera" Lorge Dayton. He was confirmed at St. Mary's Church in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School. He then went on to continue his education at the U.W. Eau Claire. Dean was the owner and operator of The Blue Lite in Sheboygan for the past 22 years. Before moving back to Sheboygan to take care of his mother, Dean lived in New York for eight years along with his good friend Daniel "Deno" Elmergreen. Dean was very active and giving to the community. He was past president of "Rainbow Over Wisconsin" and was active in the state pageant system for many years, having started the Lakeshore Pageant for Mr. and Miss Lakeshore (Blue Lite). He has been recognized for his charitable contributions and sponsoring of many through the years. He loved history, antiques and going for breakfast followed by a drive along Lake Michigan. He was a friend and confidant to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Dean is survived by an Aunt, Marian Lorge, Port Washington; numerous cousins, other relatives and many close friends. Besides his parents Dan and Vera, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Art Jetzer, and three half siblings, Daniel E. Dayton, Betty (Dick) May, and Robert Dayton. Funeral services for Dean will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. TL Michael Aumen will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Immediately following the service, a celebration of Dean's life will take place at The Blue Lite. Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lake Church, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dean's name. Dean wanted to send a very special thank you to David Black and Jonathan Meins for taking care of him and making it possible for Dean to stay home during his final days.
