Clarence J. Hartung, 94, of Covington Drive, Sheboygan Falls, passed away Wednesday morning, February 13, 2013 at Pine Haven Christian Home. Born September 20, 1918 in Sheboygan, Clarence was a son of the late Anthony and Magdalena Deheck Hartung. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1937. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in the 3rd Armored Division. On May 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Elaine Rose Tasche in the rectory of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Clarence was a foreman in the quality control department at the Kohler Company for 31 years, retiring in March of 1982. He had previously worked for Red Star Yeast in Milwaukee. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Church in Sheboygan Falls. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club and well as giving guided tours of the Kohler Company for 25 years. He was also a member of the Kohler Distinguished Guest group, the Old Timers Baseball group, the Sheboygan Pine Club and was on the board of directors of the Kohler Credit Union. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elaine; his two daughters, Mary (Timothy) Brooks, Greenleaf, WI and Luann (Tony) Desmond, Appleton, WI; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Kyle) Gams, Chicago, IL, Sara (Donald) Foote, Green Bay, WI, Laura (Patrick) Byrne, De Pere, WI, Dana Desmond, Wausau, WI, David (Amanda) Desmond, Green Bay,WI, and Amanda Desmond, Chicago, IL; three great grandchildren, Thomas Foote and Addison and Leah Gams; nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Clarence will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. Fr. Bob Lotz will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery with full military honors. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Pine Haven Christian Home and St. Nicholas Home Health and Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
