Tina Richter, 91, passed away suddenly, but peacefully in Indio, CA on Thursday morning, January 28, 2016.
Born Dec. 22, 1924 in Sheboygan, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Cheplac- Vrtochnick. She attended St. Cyril & Methodius School, Central, and later graduated from North High School in 1943. Tina worked for both Vollrath and Lakeland Manufacturing.
On May 25, 1946 she married Donald R. Richter at St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Some of you will remember Tina from her many years at Holy Name. She was a member of St. Anne’s, served on the Parish Council, volunteered at Cherub School and was the grade school librarian.
You may also recognize her from City Bakery or as a volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store.
Tina was also often known to sit out on her front steps at her home on Superior Avenue, say hello to people passing by, share homemade cookies with neighborhood children, and converse with the adults from the neighboring special needs residential home. Tina was friendly, sensitive, and loved to laugh.
Tina is survived by her three daughters and one son; Margaret Regan (Ernesto Vazquez), of Indio, California; Antoinette Richter, Mary (Zubair) Azamy of Mesa, Arizona, and Jack (Judy) Richter of Winona , Minnesota; and five grandchildren, Ayn, Laura Azamy- Austin, Hilary Valenzuela, Tanner Cus, and Bryan Richter. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald R Richter, two sons, Patrick R., Donald J. “Buddy” Richter, and her brother Frank Jr. and sister Elsie.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tina Richter will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 807 Superior Avenue. Fr. Carlos Zapata will celebrate the mass. Family and friends are welcome at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a parish vigil being held at 6:00 p.m.. There will be no visitation at the church on Saturday before the Mass at 11:30. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Tina’s name.
