Charles Donald Wingrove

Charles Donald Wingrove, 65, of Sheboygan and Spooner passed away on October 8, 2024.
Charles was a man of wit, wisdom, integrity, and kindness, He left this world while doing what he loved—practicing law and helping people. His quiet and unassuming nature left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 3, 1959, to Donald and Clara Wingrove, Charles spent his early years in Ohio, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Education, and Psychology with Honors from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.  After college he moved to Alaska and continued his education at the University of Alaska, in Addictions and Counseling. He earned a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from UW Madison in 2000.
Charles began his career working in residential treatment with abused children and individuals recovering from addiction. He taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Alaska and was a foster parent to a special-needs child. He ran taverns in Madison in the 80’s then earning his law degree while working full. Charles began his legal career in Madison before becoming a partner in a general practice law firm in Door County. From 2009 to 2024, he owned and practiced as Wingrove Law Offices, LLC. For a short time, he was a State Public Defender in Spooner, WI.
Charles found joy in life’s simple pleasures, from long walks and reading to gardening and cooking. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Known for his deep compassion, Charles had a remarkable ability to connect with others and help them navigate life’s most challenging moments.
Charles is survived by his long-term partner and wife Fay Uraynar-Wingrove.  His previous wife Marie Brady.  their son, Abraham Wingrove (Holly).  Fay’s son Adam Uraynar. He was a cherished grandfather to Samantha, Greta, and Lincoln. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas Wingrove (Theresa), his sister, Bonnie Fahy (Steve), his nieces and nephews, Emily, Bill, Andrew, and April.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Clara Wingrove, his older sister, Elizabeth, and nephew James Fahy.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, at Hope Church in Sheboygan. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hope Church, 612 Ontario Ave, Sheboygan, WI. A homily and eulogy will follow from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with remarks by family, friends, and colleagues. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery around 3:00 p.m.
Memorials in honor of Charles may be made to some of his favorite charities, including Hope Church, Samaritans Hand, Meals on Wheels, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
