Charlene M. Kaker, 69, of Sheboygan, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016 at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee following complications from bladder cancer surgery.
Born November 5, 1946 in Sheboygan, Charlene was a daughter of the late Jerome and Arlyn Pantel Freimuth. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1965. She later continued her education at Lakeshore Technical College to earn her Certified Nursing degree. On February 3, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert A. Schicker, III. She then married Terry Kaker on June 23, 2001 in Dorchester, WI.
Char worked for the Kohler Company for many years in the distribution center. She then worked as a CNA at Sheboygan Progressive Health Care Center. She previously worked as an ad runner for the Sheboygan Press. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. For many years, she was the Chief of Inspectors for the local voting booth wards. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Women's Bowling Association and the 600 Club. She enjoyed trips to the casino, crocheting and watching the Brewers, Packers and Badgers.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; her four children, Angela Schicker-Jekenewicz, Sheboygan, Kim (Carl) Matke, Park Falls, WI, Shannon (Jeff) Schomberg, Omaha, NE, and Kris (Matt) Kaker, Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren, Max Strojinc, Sheboygan, Kayla Myers, Park Falls, Allie Myers, FL, Joe Myers, US Navy, JJ, Sam and Kyrstin Schomberg, all of Omaha, NE, and Aiden Dickson, Aurora, CO; her sisters and brothers, Judy Englebert, Milwaukee, Linda Nikisch, Sheboygan, Jay Freimuth, Lois (Jim) Bermke, Sheboygan, Cindy Fraser, Delafield, Wanda (Mark) Bintzler, Sheboygan, and Kris (Corbin) Keller, Ashwaubenon; her two brothers-in-law, Mike (Connie) Kaker, and Greg (Chris) Kaker, both of Sheboygan; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends including her dear friend, Fran (Ed) Hansmann, Sheboygan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn Schicker and nephew, Larry Englebert.
Funeral services for Charlene will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pastor Alan Kubow will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday evening, July 22, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and again on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
