Catherine Ann Larson

December 27, 1943 — June 3, 2025

Katy Larson, 81 years old, of Sheboygan, WI, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on June 3, 2025.
Katy was born on December 27, 1943 in Evanston, IL, to the late LeRoy E. and Catherine A. Hopkins. Katy graduated from Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL. She continued her education at Ripon College where she met her husband, Steve Larson. Katy and Steve were united in marriage on September 4, 1965, at St. Giles Episcopal Church in Northbrook, IL.
Katy was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandson. She also had many close friends and was beloved by all who knew her. One of her many gifts she gave was providing a warm and welcoming home she so lovingly curated, surrounded by all her American and English antiques she collected over the years. Katy had an effortless gift to make everyone feel like they were the most special person, with her positivity, her infectious laugh, and her wry sense of humor. It’s no wonder so many considered Katy their most dear and best friend.
Katy was a devout member of Grace Episcopal Church, proudly serving on the Alter Guild, and many outreach activities. Her lifelong passion for horses began at the tender age of four when she first pet her sister Jane's horse, Bally Bay. Katy was fiercely dedicated to competing with her many thoroughbreds she owned and trained throughout her life. One of Katy's greatest memories and accomplishments was clinching the championship, out of a field of 85 competitors, at the Kentucky Three-Day Horse Trial Event.
Katy also enjoyed many social activities, including her cherished and life long friends she made through her Bridge Clubs, the Garden Club, and her amazing group of horsey friends, all of whom she truly treasured.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Steve; her children, David (Missy) Larson, Port Washington, and her twins, Kärin Jensen and Kristin Larson, both of Fox Point; her five grandchildren, Benjamin (fiancé Jordan Counihan) Larson, Port Washington, Jack Larson, St. Louis, MO, Alexander Jensen, St. Paul, MN, Abigail Jensen (Mike Kreutzinger), Lannon, WI, and Lily Jensen, Madison; her great grandson, Jensen Charles; her sister, Jane Mrochinski, Waterloo, WI, and in-laws, Linda Ottensman, James Schreiber, Richard (Kristin) Bemis, and Mary Louise "Lulu" (Joel) Lubbers, all of Sheboygan; and many nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her dear sister, Mary Ann (Burt) King; her mother-in-law Josie Bemis, step father-in-law, Francis vK Bemis, father-in-law, Malcom Larson; her siblings-in-law, Sarah Jo Mabey, Peter F. Bemis, Patricia Schreiber, Catherine Stayer, and Thomas Ottensman; her nephews, Austen Bemis and Benjamin Schmidt; and her niece Sarah Schmidt.
Visitation will begin on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Sheboygan, WI. Requiem Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father William Bulson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace Church through the Grace Walsingham Foundation.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. S. Mark Bettag and his staff, the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and Cornerstone Caregiving for their exceptional and compassionate care.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Katy's arrangements.
