Carol (Pfotenhauer) Madson went home to the Lord on Saturday August 19, 2023 at the age of 79, at home where she resided with her husband Dave and her dog, Archie.
Carol was born on October 23, 1943, to Jack and Anastasia (Summers) in Sheboygan Wisconsin. She attended Sheboygan Schools graduating from North High School in 1962. While in high school she worked as a nursing assistant at St. Nicholas Hospital where she realized her love for nursing.
She attended Fond du Lac Technical College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse later continuing her education at Lakeshore Technical College where she earned an Associate’s degree and became a Registered Nurse. The love for the elderly led her to get certified in geriatrics. Her nursing career included working at both Sheboygan Hospitals, Dr. Paul Bassewitiz’s office and the Sheboygan Senior Community from which she retired at the age of 62. After retirement Carol missed being with people and became a hospice volunteer for Heartland Hospice and Sharon Richardson Hospice.
Carol was united in marriage to David Madson on February 12, 1966, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Carol’s main love of her life was her family. Her house was always open to them. She loved to bake goodies for the little ones.
Survivors include husband, Dave; her sons Jack Madson, Jeff (Jenn) Madson, and Dr. Michael Madson; grandchildren, Heather, Hailey (Jimmy), Natalie, Devin, and Nolan; and great granddaughters Olivia, Allieyah, A’miera.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, infant sister Mary and brother Jack.
Per her request Carol was cremated and inurnment took place at the Chapel of Eternal Light Mausoleum.
Carol will be remembered for her love of people and life. Her smile and personality will live on.
A memorial has been established at Sharon Richardson Hospice in her name.
