Betty J. Schieble

October 20, 1924 — April 2, 2016

Betty Jane Schieble went home to her Lord on April 2, 2016 with her family by her side, as they were during her life.
Betty was born October 20, 1924, in Sheboygan, the only child of Erwin and Hattie Stanisch Hillmann. Betty attended U.S. Grant Elementary (then K-8) and graduated from North High School, class of 1943 where she was the treasurer.
On June 29, 1946, Betty married Walter "Wally" Schieble of Sheboygan. During their marriage, the couple took bus tours of the United States and traveled to Hawaii and Europe. They especially enjoyed Door County, Sister Bay and golfing in the summer. Betty and Wally also golfed and bowled with friends. They remodeled their home at 1731 N. 2nd St. and enjoyed yard work. Wally passed away on April 20, 1995.
While in high school, Betty worked at the Bank of Sheboygan from 1944-46; she worked at the Kohler Company and the Gus Holman Office from 1947-1948. Between 1948 and 1960, Betty was a stay-at-home mom for the couple's three children. In 1960, Betty began working in the H.C. Prange Co. office. She stayed with the company until 1968 when she took a job with the then Security 1st National (now U.S. Bank) in their trust department. She retired in 1986.
Betty was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, where she was a Girl Scout leader, helped in the church office, attended Bible classes and was on various committees including the Quilting Committee.
Her many hobbies included embroidery, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and playing bridge marathons during her 42 year membership with the Shoreline Woman's Club. She served as the club's treasurer for one year.
She is survived by her children, James (Sandra) Schieble, Columbus, Judith Schieble, Sheboygan, and Jeffrey Schieble, Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Stacy (Joseph) Walz, Jonesboro, AR, and Matthew Schieble, Madison; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Claire Walz, Jonesboro, AR; and a nephew, Edward Klein, Indiana; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services for Betty will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 13th & Lincoln Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar, pastor, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
