Bernetta E. Mihelnik, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday evening, June 15, 2018 at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Born June 27, 1922 in Sheboygan, Bernetta was a daughter of the late William and Rose Richter Grunow. She attended Sheboygan area schools. On March 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Louis Mihelnik in Sheboygan. They were married for 53 years before Louis preceded her in death on November 12, 1999.
Bernetta worked in the brass department of the Kohler Company for ten years before her retirement at the age of 62. She enjoyed gardening, canning and was an avid bowler who won many awards. She loved taking bus trips to play bingo, shop and attend concerts, especially with her good friend Betty. She will always be remembered by her friends and family for making beautiful afghans and slippers.
She is survived by her children, Judith (Gerald) Fischer of Sheboygan, Nancy (special friend Theresa) Shircel of Westfield, and Robert (Helen) Mihelnik of Sheboygan; her grandchildren, Ralph Champeau, Cory (Robyn) and Curt (Danni) Shircel, Eric Joosse, Jessica (Mickey) Ellinger, and Michelle and Jesse Orr; great grandchildren, Joseph Champeau, Dallon and Oliver Shircel, Shelby, Trevor, Taylor, Audra and Kia Orr, Gunnar and Sierra Joosse, Sawyer, Issabela and Grayson Martin; and one great great grandson Nolan Allen; her sisters, Mary Ann Lampe, Sheboygan, Rose Carlson, Gillett and Carol (Leroy) Onnink, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, Louis, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Karl, Gerald, Ronald and Fredrick, her sisters Irene Krueger, Deloris Heitzmann, LaVerne Awe, Shirley Abraham, Betty Post and Dorothy Pfeiffer.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Adam Barkley will officiate. Family and a friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Health Services (Golden Living), Community Care and St. Nicholas Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
