Barbara A. Felde, 70, a cherished member of the Sheboygan community, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after courageously fighting cancer for six years, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, compassion, and determination. She was a force to be reckoned with—stubborn when it mattered, fearless in the face of challenge, and unwavering in her commitment to fighting for what was right.
Barbara shared 51 years of marriage with her beloved husband, David Felde, building a life together filled with love, family, and community.
For 29 years, Barbara dedicated her career to the Sheboygan Area School District, where she worked until her retirement, shaping the lives of countless students and strengthening the educational system. Her passion for advocacy extended far beyond the classroom. For 30 years, she proudly served as a delegate to the Sheboygan County Labor Council, including 14 years as Recording Secretary. She also dedicated 23 years to the Executive Board of the Building and Trades Hall Association, with the last 6 years as Office Administrator.
Barbara’s commitment to public service shone brightly in her role as an elected official. She served as Alderperson for Sheboygan’s District 1 from 2019 to 2025, and from 2021 to 2023, she was elected City Council President. In these roles, she brought her strong voice, steady leadership, and tireless advocacy to the issues that mattered most to her neighbors and community.
Barbara was known not only for her kindness and compassion, but also for her fiery determination. She never shied away from a fight if it meant protecting workers, lifting up her neighbors, or standing up for her community. That grit, paired with her deep love for people, made her a true advocate, leader, and inspiration whose influence will be felt for generations to come.
She is survived by her devoted husband, David Felde; her children, Chad Felde and DeeAnn Aviña (Stohn Stevenson); and her cherished grandchildren, Ruben Aviña (Cassie Kolba), Austin Aviña (Serina Mendoza), Nicholas Felde, and Jorge Felde. She is also survived by her siblings Kay (Don) Fischer, Gail Urbina, Cheri Lubach, Daniel (Shelley) Lubach, and Scott Lubach; her niece, Crystal Garcia, with whom she shared a special bond; and many other family members and friends who held a special place in her heart.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 13, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheboygan County Labor Council, 1104 Wisconsin Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53081, where all who knew her are welcome to gather in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the United Way of Sheboygan County, a cause close to Barbara’s heart, continuing her tradition of giving and helping others.
Barbara will be deeply missed, but her spirit—fierce, loving, and unrelenting in her devotion to family and community—will live on in the lives she touched and the place she so dearly loved.
The Olson Funeral Home & cremation Service has been entrusted with Barbara's arrangements.
