Arthur R. Wallander, 89, passed away Thursday evening, November 24, 2016, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his sons.
Born August 25, 1927 in Cato, WI, Arthur was a son of the late John and Carrie Tikalsky Wallander. He attended area schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1946. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from October of 1950 to October of 1952. On November 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Hoffman at St. Dominic Catholic Church. They were married for 54 years before Mary preceded him in death on March 5, 2010.
Buddy was a printer for Service Printing Company for over 45 years. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman who especially enjoyed fishing in northern Wisconsin. He loved spending time up north with his wife and family at Madeline Lake.
He is survived by his sons, Andy (Kim) Wallander, Luxemburg, and Glenn Wallander, Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Ben Wallander, Detroit, MI, and Emma Wallander, Carbondale, IL; his brother, Ernest (Marcia) Wallander, Sheboygan; his sister, Lorraine Wallander, Sheboygan; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Wallander, Sheboygan; his brother-in-law, Jack Schema, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elroy, his two sisters, Arlene Schema and Charlotte (Victor) Sterk, and a special family friend, Lee Larson.
Funeral services for Buddy will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Chapel of Eternal Light, 6906 Superior Avenue, Kohler. Fr. Gideon Buya will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the chapel on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for all of their loving care and support.
