Alice M. Goebel, 87, formerly of 1409 Carl Ave., died Monday morning, July 29, 2013, at Golden Living Center where she had been residing. Born May 24, 1926 in Sheboygan, Alice was a daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Siefert) Handrow. On February 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Victor Goebel in Sheboygan. The couple was married for 56 years before Victor preceded her in death on October 18, 2003. Alice was employed by the JC Penny Department Store until her retirement in 1988. She was previously employed by Larson Plywood. Alice was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild and the Ladies Aid. She volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Store. Alice loved doing puzzles, watching Wisconsin Sports Teams, reading, sewing, spending time at Pine Lake and being with her family. She is survived by her seven children, Robert (Jeanne), Sheboygan Falls, Fred (Susan) Town of Wilson, Dennis, Plymouth, Patricia (special friend, Kevin Kaat) Wilke, Sheboygan, Mary (Ron) Marshman, Howards Grove, John, Ada and David, Sheboygan; a sister, Ruth Hartmann, Town of Sheboygan; a sister-in-law, Doris Losey, Sheboygan; numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Alice will take place at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar, pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Golden Living Center and St. Nicholas Hospital for all of their loving care and support.
