Alex Ehlert, Jr, 81, of Sheboygan, passed away from complications of Parkinson's Disease on Saturday morning, June 27, 2015, at the Sheboygan Senior Community where he had been residing. Born September 6, 1933, in Sheboygan, Alex was a son of the late Alex and Anna Blazich Ehlert. He attended area schools, graduating from Central High School in 1951. On August 29, 1953, he was united in marriage to JoAnn L. Voland in Kiel, WI. Alex owned and operated Ehlert's Arms Ammo & Art in Kiel for 17 years before he retired in 2008. He previously worked for the Vollrath Company and Bremer Manufacturing in St. Anna. He was an avid hunter, sportsman and trap shooter who was a member and volunteer of Ducks Unlimited, Kiel Fish & Game, Farmers & Sportsmans and the Rockea Hunting Club. One of his greatest joys were his annual hunting trips to Wyoming. He and JoAnn also enjoyed the time they spent living on Wilke's Lake. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn, Sheboygan; his children, Catherine (Gregory) Voskuil, Glenbeulah, Melanie (Michael) McMurray, Sheboygan, and Ken (fiancee Olivia Perry) Ehlert, Wadsworth, IL; four grandchildren, Melissa Gena, El Cerrito, CA, Karen Gena, Sheboygan, Benjamin (Brooke) Ehlert, Beach Park, IL, and Nicole Ehlert, North Bethesda, MD; two great grandchildren, Alexander Gena and Samantha Nemitz, both of Sheboygan, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Donald Ehlert. A Memorial Service for Alex will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Pastor Herman Hass will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light of Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Senior Community for all of their loving care and support.
